John Michael Green was born on the August 24th, 1977 to Mike and Sydney Green in Indianapolis. He attended Indian Springs School for boarding school and he attended Kenyon College. He is married to Sarah Urist Green, with whom he has two children, Henry and Alice Green. John is one half of the Vlogbrothers. He and his younger brother, Hank Green, are responsible for the creation of the Nerdfighter community with their Vlogbrothers channel. He host(ed) Crash Course World History, Crash Course Literature, Crash Course US History, Mental Floss.

He is the author of several young adult fiction novels.

Green is also a self-described "semi-professional FIFA player". He was manager of the Swindon Town Swoodilypoopers up until late 2013, when he was fired and instead became the manager of the AFC Wimbledon Wimbly Womblys. Since then John has not been a semi-professional FIFA player as all of the proceeds of Wimbly Wombly videos goes to the real life AFC Wimbledon. As a result of the big support of Nerdfighteria as a sponsor of the club, AFC Wimbledon players now have the Nerdfighteria emblem emblazoned on their shorts.
