Synopsis:

Quentin Jacobsen spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So, when she cracks open a window and climbs into his life -- dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge -- he follows. After their all-nighter ends, and a new day breaks, Q arrives at schools to discover that Margo, always an enigma, has become a mystery. But Q soon learns that there are clues -- and they're for him. Urged down a disconnected path, the closer he gets, the less Q sees the girl he though he knew...

Characters:

Quentin Jacobsen: A slightly neurotic high school senior who lives next to, and is madly in love with, Margo Roth Spiegelman, who he has known since they were children. He is very nervous and cautious, and is the protagonist of the book, and the first-person narrator. Is often referred to as "Q".

Margo Roth Spiegelman: Self described "paper girl" and Q's neighbor, who is seen differently by just about everyone she knows. She is adventurous, cunning and sneaky, and she is always causing mischief. Her character is complex and invigorating.

Marcus "Radar" Lincoln: "Token black friend", is one of Q's best friends, along with Ben. He is nicknamed after a character in M*A*S*H that he at one point resembled. He obsessively edits pages on a website called Omnictionary, which is similar to Wikipedia. His parents own the world's largest collection of black Santas.

Ben Starling: Q's other best friend. Is in the school band, and like Q and Radar, is fairly unpopular. Nicknamed "Bloody Ben" after a kidney infection caused his urine to be bloody and a rumor was spread that it was from chronic masturbating.

Lacey Pemberton: An old friend of Margo's since kindergarten, although their friendship is precarious, and is targeted in Margo's revenge spree. Dates Ben Starling later in the book.
