So I was going to update the schedules because I noticed they're out of date. I was able to remove defunct schedules just fine but when I went to add new ones it puts any new schedule into the DFTBA records group and won't add to the specified channel.
I can add these myself, I just don't want to forget what they are:
- Animal Wonders - has Friday schedule but often uploads Thursday or Friday
- Cereal Time - Mon-Fri
- Crash Course Games
- Crash Course Physics
- Crash Course Philosophy
- Crash Course Literature 3
- The Brain Scoop - Natural News
- The Financial Diet - weekly Wednesdays
I fixed a bug, and added the Crash Course and Brain Scoop schedules. I may have fixed a different issue than you were experiencing, though. Can you take a look and see if its still broken?
I remember having problems adding schedules as well, but it seems to be mostly working now. I've added all the categories that Freakazette mentioned (changing Animal Wonders from Fridays to everything meant removing the contributor list - but the videos hadn't been transcribed in a while anyway, so that should be okay).
However, adding Cereal Time videos still has the problem where new schedules go to dftbarecords - I've also noticed that the second pull-down menu becomes blank when I select cerealtime, instead of saying "All categories" like usually; maybe this has something to do with it?
Are you working on the website right now? I've had trouble getting pages to load for a couple hours and it won't spell check or save changes to the script I was working on. I managed to add Monday through Wednesday for Cereal Time but then it went back to doing the thing where the middle box goes blank and it adds it to DFTBA records. I transcribed a few videos into word but I'm going to have to come back tomorrow and see how it goes because the website isn't being very cooperative atm.
Well that's not good. I haven't been making any changes lately. I'll see if I can figure out what's going on.
I checked my emails and remembered that I've been getting notifications from my host about a DDoS (denial of service) attack that's making it harder to reach sites. This is probably what's going on.
I'll still see if I can fix the Cereal Time schedule, but for now I think the page load (and probably the spellcheck) issues are due to the DDoS.
Looks like there were ~3 different bugs related to schedules. They should be fixed now. Take a look and let me know if anything still isn't working.
It's working for me now. I was able to add the remaining schedules without a problem. It also looks like the DDoS is over now so that's a bonus. I was able to spell check and save the script I was on and I'm not having issues loading things anymore. =)

- Added a new section, "Split transcripts", to the Transcribe page. This shows a table of all (active) split transcripts, sorted by how many pieces still need to be transcribed.
- The Transcribe page has always been nerdfighteria.info/schedule, because I simply included the transcript priorities into the existing schedule page. You can now reach the same page via nerdfighteria.info/transcribe. This is mostly inconsequential, but it makes a little more sense.
- You can now mark a transcript as captioned even if the wiki does not have a transcript for it. In this case, a blank transcript will be created for that video.
- The process that syncs YouTube caption info has been integrated a little further. It'll now mark videos as captioned if it finds a valid caption file on YouTube, and (as above) will create a blank transcript if one doesn't already exist.
I don't think the caption info syncing is working see SciShow Kids: Viewer Mail from Scotland! as an example. (I marked a bunch captioned and then thought I should probably just tell you it's not working. If you can't get it running I'd be happy to go through them)
Also the spellchecker in the transcription box isn't working.
You've done so much great work on the website recently! It's amazing!
So that's a bit of a mess. The caption syncing should be fixed now. Everything will have to resync first, though. That'll take about a week (each video gets automatically resync'd once a week). You can force a resync for an individual video if you'd like, though. Just click "resync" next to the Video Information.
The spellchecker is still broken. No idea why or how yet, but I'll be working on that tonight.
The podcast thumbnail is stretched on the homepage carousel. Screenshot on Imgur
It seems that recent changes is no longer displaying when transcripts are edited. I think it was useful to see when they were edited as it helped to catch vandalism to transcripts.
Yeah, that was a bug. It should be working again. Sorry about that.

Not too exciting, but here are a few updates from earlier today.
- Marking a transcript as incomplete now requires a reason. This is only implemented on video transcripts at the moment, but the user will need to select an option from a dropdown list of generic/common reasons.
- The site should force SSL now. If you try going to the site via http://nerdfighteria.info, it'll redirect to https://nerdfighteria.info.
- Added some caching to improve performance.
- Modified the top transcribers page to display different numbers of users. The weekly list shows the top 5, the monthly shows the top 10, yearly shows top 15, and all time shows top 20.
- Added the current server time to the recent changes list, since timezones can be confusing.
Site Updates 2016/8/19
- Implemented a suggestion from dreamer96: you can now view transcript info on a channel's Video Statistics page. It includes the status of the transcript (complete, in progress, no transcript) and the length of the transcript (in characters).
- Added a new feature to the transcript editor. Beneath the editor, click "Show advanced functions." The new feature is "Convert from YouTube." If you copy and paste a transcript from YouTube, this feature should make it easier to clean it up and format it for the wiki.
- Removed two old advanced functions, "convert from SRT" and "estimate LRC". The first one didn't seem useful anymore, and the second one never worked well enough.
IT EVEN DOES PARAGRAPHS WHAT IS THIS SORCERY
I just used the convert button and it is amazing! I have no idea how it does paragraphs but I love it already!

- You can now subscribe to the Suggestions page. Do this from the Preferences page. Any new suggestions or comments on existing suggestions will be emailed to you.
- Cleaned up the Suggestions page a bit. Got rid of a few that have either been completed, or aren't happening.
- Complete redesign of the Messages screen. It now looks much less terrible.
- Most email notifications have been redesigned. This might be a work-in-progress but hopefully not.
Followup...
- Searches will now search for channels that match your query. It'll look in both the name and description, and includes podcast channels as well as YouTube channels.
- The search results tabs will now highlight which tab you're on. I'm hoping this draws more attention to the fact that the tabs exist (I've found it easy to skip over that entire section, forgetting that article & podcast results were in separate tabs).

First one of these in a while. Lots of things going on...
New stuff:
- Emails now contain a link to unsubscribe from all wiki emails.
- The wiki is now sync'ing data on YouTube captions. I'm still developing features around this, but basically the wiki can now keep track of what captions are available on YouTube videos, although it can't download the text of this captions.
- The spellchecker now includes Podcasts. It should function exactly the same as before. This took a lot of work, so there may still be bugs with it, but it looks to be working normally. All previous podcast transcripts have been run through the spellchecker.
- Top Transcribers page has been added. There's a link on the homepage.
- Admin: A new admin screen has been added, "Orphaned Transcripts." If a video used to have a transcript but somehow lost it (most likely due to a bug while saving), that video will show up here. You can either restore the transcript from the video's History tab, or just let me know about it.
Changed stuff:
- Relocated the Video Title area on the Video page.
- Changed the Next/Previous links on Videos from displaying the video title, to simply displaying "older" and "newer" with a tooltip for more info. These two changes were also made on the Podcast pages.
- The Transcript Flags dropdown will now only display flags found in English transcripts, will only display channels where flags were found, and will show how many flags were found (like the spellchecker does).
- Admin: The user page now links to each user's profile.
- OS Upgrade: The server has been upgraded to a higher version of its Operating System. With this came a myriad of bugs. Spellchecker broke, emails broke, saving transcripts broke. But hopefully that's all fixed now.
- Modified the footer message to include a link to hankandjohn.com.
Bug fixes:
- Possibly fixed that spellchecker bug where ignored words kept coming back.
- Fixed a spellchecker bug where, for example, a misspelling like "ter" would show previews for sentences containing "butter".
I assume this is related to the OS upgrade. The search is no longer functional. It will return results for articles but no videos.
Yep, that's what it was. It's fixed now. I need to find a more temporary fix to that particular problem, but it's good for now.
Two updates for everyone:
- The spellchecker page should have accurate counts now. Or at least more accurate than before, when it'd say there were 5 misspellings for some channel but then not show any.
- There's a new (admin-only) feature to ignore all the misspellings for a specific video. You'll need to go to that video's page, and click "ignore all misspellings" next to all the other admin functions. This works just like clicking "ignore" for all existing flags for that video.
As always, let me know if you notice any issues, with these changes or just in general.
Also, I'm reviewing the Suggestions page soon, so if you have any ideas you haven't suggested yet or want to look through and vote on others' suggestions, now is a good time.
As mentioned in the most recent Vlogbrothers video Hank just launched the How to Vote in Every State channe and I think it should be on here. What do you think?
I agree, though I need to figure out how. It looks like they made a new channel just for these videos, which helps keep it organized (and means vlogbrothers isn't flooded with 50+ new videos). Not sure how to handle the channel, though. Put it under side / cultural / educational? Hide it? Some better option?
I've been thinking about where to put the channel. It seems to me like it could be placed in any of those categories as it's kind of a cultural-educational hybrid. However I think it should go into side channels. The other side channels only get new videos occasionally and I can't see this channel getting new videos regularly, maybe once a year.
I added it and put it into Side Channels. It's not quite the most fitting place, but yeah, it doesn't sound like something that'll get regularly updated with new videos, so that category should be fine.
