Almost five years ago, Uplift came together in response to YouTube's own #metoo movement. We banded together around a community of survivors ready to tell their stories. Uplift today continues to implement the mission that first sprouted back then, taking back our communities. Since that time, we've expanded beyond the communities that we first touched. In 2018, we attended more conferences than ever, working with new communities to provide trainings on working with survivors and creating good policies. We diversified our resources for both leaders and community members, and we also launched one of our biggest efforts to date: #NoMagicInAbuse, a campaign to fight back against the casting of Johnny Depp in the Fantastic Beasts franchise because of his history of abuse. We have so much more to do, but we can't do it without you, because Uplift is about you and supporting your role as a community member or leader. It's about empowering you so that you can empower your community.
