In which Hank sings a song from the perspective of an insane person.
DFTBA
Hello and welcome to another DFTBA Records production. This is Hank Green and I'm gonna play a song for you. It's part of a series that I'm doing on "They Might Be Giants" Songs. This is called "Absolutely Bill's Mood". It's probably been my favorite "They Might Be Giants" song for longer than any other "They Might Be Giants" song. There was a period probably for, like, six months when I was twelve when I loved this song better than any other "There Might Be Giants" song and I think that that's the longest reigning favorite of any "There Might Be Giants" song. I go through them pretty quickly, like, I'll have a favorite for, for, like, six hours and then I'll have a new favorite. Six months was a really long time. "Absolutely Bill's Mood" is a great song for a twelve year old.
Well I was born in a lighthouse, my mother was the sea
I crawled to school each morning, when it occurred to me
That life's just a mood ring we're not allowed to see
And this is what it said to me
It said my room is comfortably small
With rubber lining the walls
And there's someone always calling my name
He calls when I'm alone
And he calls when I'm not home
And he calls when I'm stuck out in the rain
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
Now listen all of you swingers, don't you try to tag along
I see monkey see, and monkey's dead, for you it would be wrong
You put a dime in my jukebox, you'll only hear this song
And it won't be fun for long
Because my room is comfortably small
With rubber lining the walls
And there's someone always calling my name
He calls when I'm alone
And he calls when I'm not home
And he calls when I'm stuck out in the rain
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
I'm insane
