Bizarrely enough there are actual laws that state that if the head of any whale is found washed up on a beach it belongs to the king and the tail belongs to the queen so that she can use the bones from the tail to make corsets. England is weird. It's unclear if these laws have ever actually been used but at least we know that if a whale ever does wash up on the Thames we have a plan.
