so, flowers are blooming, and you got some for yourself along with that handy dandy little packet of mystery stuff that the florist gives you. because the clock has begun to tick on your bouquet once they have cut stems flowers have no way of getting nutrients, so you have to sub in for nature and supply them. so, what's in the packet there's gonna be sugar in there, which can act as a food supply it's gonna be sanitizer to prevent bacteria from growing on your flowers, acid can keep microbes from growing inside the structures that carry water through the plants, which will keep the whole concoction getting up the stem faster. and you can also make your own, you can use a quart of warm water with two tablespoons of lemon juice, one tablespoon of sugar, and a quarter tablespoon of bleach. it sounded good until the bleach before you add this to the flowers you can cut the stems at an angle to expose more surface area so your flowers can suck up more of that rejuvenating liquid. in the end, depending on what kind of flower you have you could add weeks to your flower's shelf life.
