Fail. Whale Sharks, like most sharks, give live birth. Whale Sharks actually give birth to about 300 pups at the same time. Someone once found what they thought was a Whale Shark egg on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, but since then scientists have determined that Whale Sharks give live birth so they have no idea what that spherical 14 inch thing was on the Gulf of Mexico in 1955.
