Emma: Ohh, we did it! We did it! We survived James Elton and Caroline Lee. And despite a celebratory event for two people that relish in being vindictive, the party was actually a lot of fun. But you know what's not fun? The morning after a party. Parties are about excitement, people, celebration, but in the cold light of day, you are left with emptiness and questions about your choices. So many questions. I am Emma Woodhouse and I do not like this feeling.
(Emma Approved Intro plays)
Harriet: Here you go, Emma.
Emma: Thank God. Harriet, you don't have to bring me coffee any more.
Harriet: I knew you needed it.
Emma: Thank you. You seem surprisingly energized.
Harriet: I just had such a great time at the party last night. I suppose in a way I feel like I'm still there.
Emma: That's wonderful, Harriet! You have to be so proud of how it all turned out.
Harriet: Oh, it was beautiful and the guests were so nice and the deejay was great.
Emma: So I noticed! So any new dance partners worth mentioning?
Harriet: No, nobody new.
Emma: And any lingering feelings about you-know-who?
Harriet: Definitely not. I can honestly say with 100% certainty that he was not the right guy for me. Thank goodness.
Emma: Agreed. Well then, I think we should just take it easy today, don't you?
Harriet: Sure.
Caroline: Emma! Oh, am I interrupting?
Emma: Caroline. This is a surprise.
Harriet: Can I get you another latte, Ms. Lee?
Caroline: No, thank you.
Emma: Welcome back.
Caroline: You see, that is so much more polite than 'what are you doing here?'
Emma: How can I help you?
Caroline: I just wanted to thank you for a fantastic party. It was the event of the year.
Emma: Thank you.
Caroline: Until the wedding! Of course.
Emma: Of course.
Caroline: Aren't you going to inquire about that opportunity?
Emma: Are you offering it?
Caroline: I am considering considering it.
Emma: Then that is when I will consider it.
Caroline: Emma, tell me something. When I walked through those doors, what did you know about me?
Emma: I had only heard rumors.
Caroline: And did you believe them?
Emma: I believe that you are a strong, independent, determined woman who seizes opportunities.
Caroline: Well, that sounds like you.
Emma: We're not the same, Caroline.
Caroline: We're both willing to do whatever it takes for the people that we care about.
Emma: We do share that quality.
Caroline: And don't forget out incredible fashion sense.
Emma: Why did you hire us?
Caroline: Because you're a great party--
Emma: No, why did you really hire us? You wanted to see the woman who first caught your fiancee's eye, didn't you?
Caroline: And why would you think that?
Emma: Because it's true.
Caroline: I didn't pick Emma Approved. James did. Twice. I'm sorry if that wasn't clear.
Emma: No, it was clear that he brought you here to remind you of my failures.
Caroline: He wanted a great engagement party. We both did.
Emma: He wanted to make my life miserable, and you wanted to prove that you were better than me.
Caroline: Oh, Emma, this isn't a competition. And if it was, I already won.
Emma: Then congratulations, I hope you are very happy.
Caroline: Ecstatic.
Emma: What is this?
Caroline: Our final payment. For a job well done.
Emma: You could have just mailed it.
Caroline: And not given you a proper goodbye? That would have been terrible for your documentary.
Emma: It would have survived.
Caroline: But would your business? It was a beautiful party, Emma Woodhouse. You deserve every penny.
Emma: Thank you.
Caroline: It's been a pleasure working with you. Say goodbye to Al for me.
Emma: Caroline? I wish you a happy life with your future husband.
Caroline: Thank you. I wish you future success in all your endeavors, Emma.
Emma: No. You don't.
Alex: I just saw Caroline leaving. Are you okay?
Emma: I hope you're happy.
Alex: Whooph. I do like seeing a lot of zeroes.
Emma: A lot of empty zeroes.
Alex: The party was great, and you and Harriet rocked it.
Emma: Is this what we do now? Plan events for awful people?
Alex: Sometimes. But we needed the money and you needed the win.
Emma: If this is a win, why does it feel like we just lost?
Alex: What--you and Harriet had to overcome a lot of obstacles to pull this off. Everybody came out ahead.
Emma: No, we didn't. We didn't do what we set out to do.
Alex: And what was that exactly?
Emma: To make peoples' lives better!
Alex: That's a point of view.
Emma: Oh, come on, I'm pretty sure you know what I mean. We should feel good about the people we help, instead, we just helped two selfish people prove how much better they are than us.
Alex: Not as satisfying.
Emma: Do you remember what it was like to help Maddie? She's a good person who deserves to be happy, she deserved to have a better life. And we raised a lot of money to save the planet.
Alex: Okay. Okay, well then, let's start focusing on only helping good people. And maybe the planet, too.
Emma: Yes! Emma Approved, the company that makes the world better. We'll only take in clients with pure intentions, we'll save starving children, end wars, fight injustice!
Alex: That's ambitious.
Emma: Always!
Alex: You know, this is a shift in the company. Might take a little bit of time.
Emma: That's fine as long as it's still Emma Approved.
Alex: What if it's Knightley Disapproved?
Emma: Ohhh, how long have you been saving that one?
Alex: A while.
Emma: You should put that on Facebook.
Alex: Don't be silly. You know this whole bettering the world direction, we might need to think about expanding the team. Doing a little recruiting.
Emma: Do you have someone in mind?
Alex: Ohh, maybe someone who works in charity, involved in the community, fights social injustice, has a Master's in social policy.
Emma: Wait a second.
Alex: Mmhmm
Emma: We are not recruiting Jane Fairfax!
(Emma Approved Intro plays)
