Emma: Now we are really rolling! Jane Fairfax is part of the team! She's getting us partners, finding bargains on recycled paper, and buying fair trade tea for the office!
So now it's my turn to step up my game. And by game I mean finding an event that will better the world. And when looking for a benefit worthy of being Emma approved, there is only one person I could think of to call first. The one and only, Frank Churchill!
[Emma Approved Opening Theme]
Emma: Yes, Frank Churchill is coming back. As you can see, I have dressed for the occasion. You have to look your best to woo a... benefit. Anyways, he's not going to be here for an hour or so, so Harriet and I have been preparing for this meeting, all day.
We've worked out our timing and established code words. That way we can communicate without him knowing. And-
Harriet: The fox is in the hen house, the fox is in the hen house!
Emma: What?! Already?
Harriet: The fox is early! The fox is coming to the office!
Emma: Well get out there! Don't let him come in here!
Frank: Emma Woodhouse!
Emma: Frank Churchill! How are you? How much did you hear?
Frank: Just the part about not being welcome. Should I go?
Emma: No of course not! You're always welcome here Frank.
Frank: Well I feel very welcome. Tell me, any good blends today?
Emma: Harriet?
Harriet: We have a new French roast. Would you like a cup?
Frank: Deux café, s'il vous plaît.
Harriet: Bien sûr! Voulez-vous aussi du lait d'amande ou stevia? Right away...
Emma: Oh, thank you.
Frank: *sighs* So I'm a fox, am I?
Emma: I thought you said you didn't hear.
Frank: Did I? I must have a short memory.
Emma: Then you have your answer.
Frank: So, are the rumors true?
Emma: That you're a fox?
Frank: That's no rumor. But I heard you brought on some new help.
Emma: Jane Fairfax. She's been here a few weeks. She has the office down the hall.
Frank: Interesting...
Emma: How so?
Frank: Well she's resourceful, and well liked by many influential people, she should fit right in.
Emma: She will.
Frank: But let's be real. She's no Emma Woodhouse.
Emma: Who is?
Frank: I heard what you did with the Elton-Lee engagement party. I don't know anyone, who could have done a more spectacular job pulling that off.
Emma: Honestly, that was not my best work.
Frank: Of course not! But it took a lot of imagination and creative maneuvering.
Emma: That it did! Binders full.
Frank: I'm just not sure Jane's practicality would have lent itself to that.
Emma: Actually I found Jane to have a very creative eye.
Frank: Really? You're telling me she chose that wallpaper in her office.
Emma: Oh no, that was me. I'd offer to help her with the rest of the decor, but she wanted to save money.
Frank: Saving money, that sounds familiar. She and Alex must be thick as thieves.
Emma: They do share some annoying similarities.
Frank: Number crunchers. No imagination!
Emma: Well the numbers have looked good so far. She's only here a few weeks and already she's brought in several partners.
Frank: Sounds like you two are getting a long just fine then.
Emma: We are! Apart from she's a little camera shy. But, she'll embrace it.
Frank: You know what, I'm not sure, if it's shyness, or self-esteem. Maybe she thinks she isn't pretty enough to be on camera, I mean not with you as an example.
Emma: Oh please! You know perfectly well that Jane is a very attractive woman.
Frank: Mm... That's your opinion. But she doesn't possess your exquisite cheekbones.
Emma: Harriet! Just in time. Let's get down to business.
Frank: Oh coffee! Always before business.
Emma: Thank you.
Frank: So we are talking about an event.
Emma: A fundraiser.
Frank: Oh! For a good cause?
Emma: Not a good one, a great one!
Frank: Oh I like that sound of that. I'm thinking, human rights.
Emma: Everyone loves humans!
Frank: Oh I believe one of my ventures supports several human rights causes, and they can always use a cash infusion.
Emma: Done!
Harriet: Wow, that was easy. So what's the fundraiser?
Emma: I'm thinking something upbeat and lively. Something that puts the fun back in fundraiser.
Frank: Bachelor auction! Always a party.
Emma: Oh I like that! Harriet?
Harriet: Well, um...
Frank: I think we lost Harriet.
Harriet: It's just that, the charity is about human rights, isn't selling people a little controversial?
Frank: Controversial is exciting! Controversial gets you headlines! Controversial makes it rain.
Emma: We are just selling dinner with an eligible bachelor, nothing more.
Harriet: Oh. That should be okay.
Emma: It's not only okay, it's wonderful! We will recruit a few handsome men donate themselves in the name and rights of humanity! Frank? Will a, you be on the block?
Frank: Always lead by example, sign me up.
Harriet: Really, you're okay doing that?
Frank: Why wouldn't I be?
Emma: I imagine a dinner with you would be worth every cent.
Frank: Back atcha. Not to commit you to anything, but there are some very eligible bachelorette in this building. I hope you all consider contributing to the cause.
Emma: Absolutely, everyone will participate. Even Alex and Jane.
Frank: Jane... Hopefully someone will throw her a bid or two.
Emma: She'll do fine.
Frank: But you'll do better!
Harriet: So when's the event?
Frank: End of the month! Think you can manage that?
Emma: Absolutely! Harriet, start with Randal's as a venue.
Frank: Randal's? Let's go bigger. Bolder! Remember, it only costs a little more to go first class.
Emma: Crown Resort it is then!
Frank: So I will leave you ladies to it. Oh, thanks so much for the coffee.
Emma: Harriet, do you know what this means?
Harriet: We have a new event to plan!
Emma: And this time, everyone will be benefiting!
Harriet: Mr. Churchill really seems to like you.
Emma: Well he likes all of us. That's why he hired us to plan his event. A bachelor/bachelorette auction will be fun!
Harriet: About that, if Mr. Churchill doesn't think Jane can get a bid, then there's really no point in me-
Emma: I know you don't want to do the auction.
Harriet: I really don't.
Emma: Don't worry. Someone needs to make sure this event runs smoothly and that someone will be you, Ms. Event Coordinator! Aw. We'll just get Alex and Jane. Jane's a single woman who needs to put herself out there anyways. Good for her, good for us.
Harriet: I should call the Crown. And find some accomplished and attractive bachelor people.
Emma: I can give you a list of contacts for that. And you heard Frank.
Harriet: It only cost a little more to go first class.
Emma: That's the spirit! Just don't repeat that around Alex. Or Jane.
