There's a robot chameleon that can change colors to match its background. It uses sensors to detect what color is around them, and then wires in the robot heat up to make them change color, just like a mood ring.
The robot uses a thermochromic camouflage technique, so when the temperature changes, layers of crystallized molecules inside of it also rotate.
The pattern of these molecules twists so that different wavelengths of light can pass through, which then reflects the light differently, and this results in different colors that can match the robot's background.
And it's not just colors, but they can also match patterns of things like leaves. So if the robot needs to go to a florist, the shape of the heating wires can be adapted to resemble leaves.
So this technology could be super useful for camouflage outside or even for fashion. So these robots can be like now you see me, and now you don't
