Hi guys. Welcome back to Animal Wonders. We're outside right now because I wanted to take the tortoises for a walk and thought you might enjoy coming along. This is Yucca and that's Titus and it's a beautiful day. Whenever it's a nice day like this, we like getting them out and exploring and enjoying the sunshine. Tortoises are quite intelligent reptiles, so it's really good to give them enrichment so they stay mentally healthy. Enrichment simply means stimulating their mind or body, so being outside with all of these stimulants is incredibly enriching.
Being outside isn't just enriching. It's also a great way to get them their much needed natural sunlight. Their natural habitat is in the very humid rainforests of South America, so keeping them comfortable in Montana means that I have to provide them with plenty of water, so I always provide them with a dish of water. They're also natural fruit eaters, so hiding juicy fruits in the grass is a great way to enrich them and also keep them hydrated, so while there are some important things to keep in mind, it's mainly just a fun time for me and the tortoises.
I hope you enjoyed going on this tortoise adventure. If you would like to go on an adventure with us every week, subscribe to our YouTube channel AnimalWondersMontana. Thanks, and we'll see you next week.
