Hello and welcome to another edition of Truth or Fail where love is always in the air. And there’s a lot of love in the air this time of year because it’s summer time and summer time means weddings. My love of weddings includes my own which happened nearly six years ago and was as awesome a day in the life of Hank Green as there ever has been. I even officiated a wedding last year and not to brag or anything, but I think I did a pretty good job. And so to celebrate this matrimonial time of year we have for you a Truth or Fail all about the traditions and celebrations and odd bits of trivia associated with weddings. A perfect score means that you’re ready for a second career as a wedding planner.
Round number one: Oh, Nevada.
Fact number one: Everyone knows that Las Vegas is famous for its wedding chapels, but its reputation as a destination for a quick wedding has become more myth than reality in recent years. In fact, nearly half of Las Vegas chapels have closed since the cities wedding heyday in the 1970's. And in 2010, fewer than 10,000 couples said there I do’s in sin city.
Or it could be
Fact number two: If Las Vegas is known for its weddings, then Reno is where you’ll go for divorce, well, it used to be at least. From the 1930’s to the 1960’s Nevada was by far the easiest state in the country to get a divorce in leading thousands of unhappy men and women to head into the desert for a Reno-vation.
