I don't wanna get in your business, but it's really weird for them to grow this way.  This is not like poppy seed, for example, it doesn't like, grow out of the center of a poppy flower.  Poppy seeds grow inside of a fruit, like a raspberry seed would grow inside of a fruit or a watermelon seed, as you say, would grow inside of a fruit, and then you would harvest that fruit and take the seeds out for use.  That is generally how seeds work.

Sunflowers are actually really weird because they are not flowers.  They are just shaped this way to convince bees that they are flowers.  These on the outside, technically not petals.  These are what's called bracts, they're like an evolved leaf.  I mean, petals are also an evolved leaf, but the flower itself is the little guys in here.  Each one of these is an individual little flower.  You can see them better on this one.  Isn't that cool?  And this one has gone by and now if you rub those flowers off, you'll see that underneath there, that is the fruit.  The fruit is the seed!
