Clara: [yawns] So, just why do I have to get up so early in the morning if the shop doesn't open until the afternoon? I mean, ice cream isn't really a breakfast food. Or is it?

But the thing is, ice cream may look easy and placid on the surface, but it's deceptively complex. It needs time and . . . the right touch to reveal its full potential. Well, also the dairy makes their deliveries before sunrise.

But I don't mind getting up early. You see a different version of Sanditon while everybody's asleep. Well, most everyone that is. Some of us are up that early.

This video is for one of them. My Australian friend, Sarah Richard Preston, who no matter how long she's been here just can't seem to adjust to the time difference.

But! . . . that's a good reminder. It is always time for ice cream somewhere, so it's perfectly okay to have a breakfast sundae.

For this, you will need some coffee ice cream, a little whipped cream, and, most importantly, donuts! I got these from Sandy Town Donuts, of course. And you can use glazed, or if you get a cake donut, pop it in the microwave for a few seconds. The hot donut and the cold ice cream together are delicious.

Top it with whipped cream. Mmmm . . . and there. And you can dust it with a little cinnamon too! And there you have it! A breakfast sundae! Delicious! And easy . . . because the mornings are hard enough.

If you're like Sarah, this will put you into a nice little food coma so at least you can get a little bit of sleep. Right?
