(Phone rings)

Harriet: Emma Approved. Please hold. Hello. Thanks for holding. This is Emma. I mean Emma Approved, how can I help you? Great. Representing who? And how much? Oh I don't think that will be a problem. Everyone loves premiere parties. I'll get back to you with a quote. Thanks for calling. Thanks for holding. Yes that was us. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Sure. Uh, let me get your information and we'll call you back with a quote. No, I'm sorry, I'm not Emma Woodhouse but she'll be back soon. I hope.

(Intro)

(to Emma's office)

Emma, how are you doing? I've been on the phone all morning. Everyone wants us for their next event. Isn't that great? Do you want to try a video? We should document our impending excellence. I wrote your fashion post from last week, do you want to read it? Everyone really seems to like it. Oh, maybe we should focus on something else. Oh, is that from the Christmas party? You're right, Alex does look better without khakis. Almond nut mocha, your favorite.

Emma: Oh, thank you Harriet but I don't deserve this. I've made a lot of mistakes.

Harriet: Well, you were...

Emma: Like making you spill coffee on Alex's khakis, I mean who does that? They're not that bad. You know, I kind of miss them now. Oh God, and then I spied on Jane. What would she say if she knew? Oh, first she'd probably tell me to invest in a handkerchief. I've probably killed a rainforest with these tissues.

Harriet: What now?

Emma: The trees.

Harriet: Oh, um, look, I brought you some more things. I thought they might cheer you up. I'm Mr. Bear and I like hugs.

Emma: No.

Harriet: Sorry, Mr. Bear, your services aren't needed. Stand down.

Emma: Thank you for trying to cheer me, Harriet. Thank you for staying with me.

Harriet: Of course. Besides, look at all the potential new clients.

Emma: No Harriet, I don't think I can take on new clients right now. Look at me, I'm a mess.

(Phone rings)

Emma: You should probably get that. Wouldn't want to disappoint more people.

(to Harriet's office)

Harriet: I wish Alex were here. Urgh, voice mail. Alex, it's Harriet. Uh, can you call me back please? The phone is ringing off the hook and Emma's really upset a-a-and I don't know what to do anymore. Please just call me back whenever you can. What would Alex do? What would Alex do? What would Emma do?

(to Emma's office)

Huh-hum, often, when life hands you a major disappointment, the instinct is to close ranks, wallow and stop functioning until the pain passes but this is the wrong approach. All the things people usually do to comfort themselves when life gets hard are in fact the exact opposite of what would actually make them feel better. Wallowing in ice cream and regret is not, and never will be, Emma Approved.

Emma: That ice cream was very Emma Approved.

Harriet: Emma I know. The last thing you want to do is start rebuilding, but the longer you let things go, the more insurmountable the future becomes. Get a head start with a small manageable to-do list.

Emma: I'm actually thinking of closing the business.

Harriet: What? You can't do that.

Emma: There's only two of us. We can't do it alone.

Harriet: Yes we can. We got this.

Emma: Harriet, sweet Harriet, you're absolutely right. I mean, we could definitely pull this off, if we wanted to.

Harriet: I don't understand. Don't you want to?

Emma: Not really. I started this company with a partner. Someone to share in the worry and the planning and who sees things I don't, and now that he's gone, I'm just not sure that I want to do it alone, even if I can.

Harriet: But you won't be alone, you have me and I think I have the perfect client.

Emma: Oh, I already told you, I can't take on new clients. Do you want me to ruin their lives?

Harriet: Just hear me out. This client is someone who meant well but who made a lot of mistakes. She let the prospect of fame get in the way of people she truly loves.

Emma: Sounds like a challenge.

Harriet: This client is someone I love very much and don't want to see sad in scrunchies and sweat pants.

Emma: This client sounds like she has a really good friend. Harriet, we have a lot of work ahead of us and if I know this client, and trust me, I do, she won't be easy.

Harriet: So, we start with a theme?

Emma: Good idea, but I don't think that applies here. No, no more feeling sorry for myself. We need a plan.

Harriet: Like a twelve-step program.

Emma: Uh, different context but I think it'll work. Oh, we are going to rock this comeback.

Harriet: That's the confidence, embrace it.

Emma: Thank you, Harriet.

Harriet: Can I get a hell yes?

Emma: Hell yes!
