Emma: There are times in a girl's life where she just needs everything to go smoothly. And today, the day of my best friend's baby shower, is one of those days. Unfortunately, we've hit a bump. No, not a baby bump. That one's out there currently enjoying the party that I'm hosting. No. This is a good old-fashioned bump in the road. And I need to fix it, fast.
I just got news from a publicist friend of mine that an even bigger, even flashier, more star-studded club is opening the same night as Boxx. And they're trying to steal my guest list. You will never believe the name. Laavva, with two A's and two V's. Ugh. Talk about pretentious.
(Emma Approved Opening theme)
Emma: Why does this have to happen today? Everyone is out there eating melted chocolate out of baby diapers and I am dealing with the biggest crisis ever. Jane Fairfax!
Jane: Yes?
Emma: Where you going to in such a hurry?
Jane: I'm sorry, Emma. The shower's great, but I'm not really into chocolate, and games are just not my-
Emma: Jane... What's going on?
Jane: I can't talk to Caroline for one more minute.
Emma: Oh, we have so much in common.
Jane: She's being pushy. More so than normal.
Emma: She's still trying to find you a job? You already have one.
Jane: She thinks somewhere between a job, a man, and a designer handbag, she can build the perfect woman out of me.
Emma: Some people need to learn to stay out of other people's affairs.
Jane: Tell her that.
Emma: I've tried.
Jane: Anyway, why are you in here? Need help with anything?
Emma: Actually I do. Have you heard of Lavvaa?
Jane: The molten rock?
Emma: No, the pretentious night club.
Jane: Can't say that I have.
Emma: They're trying to steal our launch date.
Jane: I wouldn't say that they're stealing it.
Emma: Out of all the dates in the summer.
Jane: What do you need me to do?
Emma: Go there and gather as much information as you can; building codes that aren't being adhered to, safety hazards, that kind of thing. You know, recon.
Jane: That's very unorthodox.
Emma: Oh, I think I hear Caroline calling...
Jane: On it! I'll call you with my findings.
(Emma's Ringtone)
Emma: Oh! It's Boxx's publicist. Uh... good luck! Amy? Did you get my message? Well I thought we put out our release early enough to avoid any competition.
Alex: Emma?
Emma: Can't we get them to change the date? Got any blackmail we could use? Take the call, I'll hold. I'm working. You're the one that told me I needed to be better at mulit-tasking. What do you need?
Alex: It's not what I need; it's what Annie needs.
Emma: Well what does she need?
Alex: She needs her-
Emma: Ah yes, I'm here. Can't Lavvaa's celebrity owner get along with Boxx's? Why do they hate each other so much? Huh, well that's not good. No, go ahead, take the call. Why aren't you out there in the party?
Alex: Funny, I was just about to ask you the same question.
Emma: I think it's clear, I'm busy.
A: They're playing diaper derby...
Emma: Oh! I love diaper derby. Don't let me keep you!
Alex: Ha! You're not, I don't want to play.
Emma: Why not?
Alex: I don't know... It's kind of childish.
Emma: Alex Knightley, you are at a baby shower, now get out there, grab some toilet paper, and get diapering!
Alex: Fine, but you should come with me.
Emma: I will, as soon as I'm done with this. Okay, we'll figure this out, um, let's touch base later today? Okay, bye-bye.
Juan, I understand that your club is very exclusive and buzz-worthy, but we had this date first and we're not budging so... there. And he hung up. Alrighty then.
Frank: Oh! There you are!
Emma: You're late!
Frank: You're one to talk, you're non-existant. I didn't leave an important lunch to come here and see how many balloons I could fit under my shirt.
Emma: Oh I love that game!
Frank: I have a lot going on, but it was so important that I come, and now that I'm here the party is already winding down.
Emma: What do you mean?
Frank: Most the guests have bounced.
Emma: They have?
Frank: You're not there, Jane's gone.
Emma: Jane left early to help me with a little work crisis. But please Frank, go out there and have fun!
Frank: This isn't really my scene, the only bib you'll see me in goes with a lobster tail.
Emma: Please Frank.
Frank: Maybe I'll hide in here with you, what are we working on?
Emma: You don't even want to know.
Frank: Oh but compared to what's going on out there I really, really do.
Annie: There you are.
Frank: Oh! The radiant mama to be! We were just saying what a marvelous shower this is! You know, maybe I'll go see if Alex wants a rematch in diaper derby.
Annie: That's a great idea.
Emma: How's the party?
Annie: It would be better if you were actually here.
Emma: I'm here!
Annie: Yes. In your office. Working. Look, I know this Boxx opening is a very important event for you, but you made a promise to me, Emma.
Emma: But...
Annie: I'm grateful for the party, but it means nothing without my best friend sharing in the moment with me.
Emma: Things just got a little out of hand, I'm sorry, Annie.
Annie: I know you are. And I know that you want to do bigger, more important things than just party planning and dishing out relationship advice. Harriet did a lovely job with the shower. I would just appreciate it more if my best friend could actually be there to enjoy it. Please.
Emma: Of course.
(Emma's Ringtone)
Annie: Do what you need to do.
Emma: (on phone) Hi Amy, I got an idea, let me talk to Juan again.
(to camera) Juan and I were able to reach an agreement, they'll push their event two hours later and Boxx will send all of its guests to the after party! Haha! And I didn't even have to resort to any blackmail. Hm. After all that I ran out for the last piece of cake, just as the party was ending. But I missed all the games. The other guests had a great time, and I am one step closer to feeding the rich and famous. I'm Emma Woodhouse and I'm a great event planner. But kind of a lousy friend.
