You can trick a monkey! According to science, it's all in the technique you use. See, there's this famous magic trick among humans called the French Drop, where you have a penny in one hand and you pretend to hand it off to the other hand, but actually you drop it into the palm of the original hand. People expect the penny to be in your second hand, and so do monkeys that have at least partially opposable thumbs. But monkeys whose hands don't move like that aren't fooled. Because they wouldn't hold a penny with their forefinger and thumb. So researchers modified the magic trick to a more monkey-friendly fist holding the penny, which did manage to fool them. It's all about knowing your audience!
