Hi, I'm Erin Lowry, founder of Broke Millennial.  And if I look familiar, it might be because you've seen me on other TFD videos.  Well I've got some exciting news to share.  I'm teaming up with The Financial Diet to bring you a new weekly video series: The 3-Minute Guide, powered by our friends at Skillshare.

As the name implies, this new series will spend three minutes digging into a money question from the TFD community.  Three minutes might not sound like a lot, but you'll be surprised how much money knowledge I can pack into a short time.

It's actually a fun challenge for me to give you all of the details you need on a topic without any of that boring jargon. Besides, financial
institutions just use that language to confuse and intimidate you in the first place. Instead, I'll be using storytelling and my own experiences.

I'll be breaking down a wide variety of financial topics from the emotional to the more technical. One week you'll learn how to earn more money, aka be a better negotiator and the next you may unearth all of the sneaky ways that banks are trying to screw you over, or how to crush your debt, or how to tell your friends no I can't afford to split that dinner bill evenly.

The TFD team and I have a lot of exciting topics that we want to cover but we also want to hear from you. To give you more about me I'm the founder of brokemillennial.com and the author of the book Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial
Life Together, and my goal is to help you control money, not let money control you.

I spend most of my days writing and speaking about all things personal finance, That, or I'm at home sitting on my couch with my dog Mosby, binge watching whatever is the most recent franchise of the Real Housewives. Listen we've all got our vices.

I'm excited to be the newest contributor to the Financial Diet and I
can't wait to start helping you get your financial life together with the three-minute guide. One way to get your financial life together is to pick up a side hustle, but sometimes it can be tough to find a skill you can monetize.

An easy and affordable way to learn a new talent is with Skillshare. Skillshare is an online learning community with more than 17,000 classes in design entrepreneurship and more. Premium Membership gives you unlimited access to high-quality classes on must know topics, so you can improve your skills, unlock new opportunities and do the work you love.

As someone who runs a website I'm a fan of the fundamentals in Google Analytics course. Skillshare is also more affordable than most learning platforms out there, an annual subscription is less than $10 a month and since Skillshare is bringing you this episode of the 3-minute guide, you can get the first three months of Skillshare for just 99 cents by using the promo link in the description. But act fast this deal ends January 31st, 2018.

Have a money question you want to learn more about? Leave your topic idea in the comments section below. I'm Broke Millennial for the Financial Diet and don't forget to hit the subscribe button and join me next Thursday for the first episode of the 3 minute guide.
