In which John makes a video for future John, future Hank, and future Katherine about what happened at the 2012 Tour de Nerdfighting and how it felt. Thanks to everyone who came out for the tour this year, to all the awesome independent bookstores and theaters that hosted us, and to the nice nerdfighter who held the camera.

Nerdfighters: DFTBA!! WOOO!!!
John: Good morning, Hank, it's Tuesday. Pizza behind me. So the Tour de Nerdfighting is coming to an end after three weeks, and last night as we were signing in Seattle, it occurred to me that the last three weeks have really been like the Internet became IRL. It was fun and clever and crowded, and it felt good to be a nerd, and there was lots of talk of Sherlock and Doctor Who, not to mention enthusiastic singing of songs about particle physics:
Hank and nerdfighters (singing/clapping): Up, down, strange, charm, top, bottom, if you don't know what a quark is it don't matter you still got 'em and with leptons and bosons unless something's amiss they make up everything that we can see and that we know exists.

John: But Hank, also like the Internet, it also went by really, really fast. Like there were times on this tour where I felt like I was just pressing the "down" key on Tumblr and seeing more and more and more. And one of the problems with the Internet is that things go by so fast that it's hard to really experience them; like you and Katherine and I were talking yesterday about how we hardly even remember the 2008 Tour de Nerdfighting. We don't really remember what it was like and how it felt.

So Hank, this is for future us. This is what it was like. This is how it felt.

John: Can you hold this camera?
Other: Yes sir.
John: Yeah.
Other: Where would you like me to hold?
John: You know. Both of us if possible.
Other: Alright --
John: Sit. Sit.
(Laughter)
(Guitar chords a la Hank)
John, Hank, and nerdfighters (singing): Cause I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more just to be the man who walks a thousand miles to fall down at your door.
Da da da, da da da, da da da, da... da da da.. dun dun dun dah dah dah. (x2)
When I'm dreaming yeah you know I'm going to dream, I'm going to dream about the times that I knew you, (yelling from audience)
Yeah you know I'm going to be, I'm going... you know I"m going to be, you know I'm gonna be the man who's coming home, I'm gonna be the man who's coming home to you.
'Cause I would walk 500 miles and I would walk 500 more to be the man walks a thousand miles to fall down at your door.
Da da da da da da dun dun dun dun da. (x2)
'Cause I would walk 500 miles and I walk 500 more just to be the man who walks a thousand miles to fall down at your doooooor.
(Crowd cheers)
John: Thank you! Thank you! Goodnight!

Girl holding the camera: I'll just keep this, then.
