Savannah: If your pet parrot feels lonely, new research shows that your bird can have a lot of fun video calling their buddies.
Parrots are super-extroverted animals. In the wild, they often chill out in large flocks that can number into the thousands in some species. But, many of the over 20 million pet parrots in the US spend their lives solo, and that isolation can make them really stressed out.
So, in a new study hoping to help these birds make friends, parrots could ring a bell to make their owner start a video chat with another bird. They could even pick from a list of their friends.
The results are just as adorable as you'd expect: they'd sing to each other, show off new toys, and even answer calls with a friendly "hello!" The birds even showed social preferences about which of their bird-bros they choose to call the most
