Truth! Joseph Mulhattan liked to say that he wrote 'little novels' that get read by millions of people eight hours after he writes them. They happened to be fiction published as non-fiction, but you know. Joseph, rock on with your bad self. People were enraged about these imaginary cotton picking monkeys. The New York Times published an article about how it was going to destroy the economy, all these monkeys picking crops because people wouldn't have jobs anymore! And of course Joseph Mulhattan mentioned an actual farmer and that actual farmer got lots of actual hate mail.

Fact one: A coalition working to decrease imports from China spread a rumour that Chinese hairbands were made with cut-up recycled condoms.

Fact two: Horace Miner published an anthropological paper in 1954 about an undiscovered North American tribe. The people were called the Nacirema and they never existed.
