Okay, I actually didn't know about this, but it makes sense.

I'm now drawing on my whiteboard with a permanent marker. Oh no, THIS IS TERRIBLE.

It's never going to come off. When I was in college, we once swapped out a permanent marker for the dry erase marker on my in my general chemistry class, and the professor wrote a bunch of stuff in the whiteboard. He went to erase it and it didn't come off.

Joke was on us, though, cuz the guy's a chemist. So, we got some alcohol from the lab, put it on a rag, and just wiped it off. Because, of course, the ink in the pen is the solute, the stuff that's dissolved in the solvent.

And the solvent is what evaporates away and leaves the solute, the ink there on the thing that you've written on. Now, I got to go get a solvent like alcohol or nail polish remover, and wipe that right off. But another place that solvent is is in this pen because this also uses the same solvent, just a different solute, a different ink.

So, I just scribble over it and redesolve all that ink and then wipe that boy away. Yeeha! Better letting through chemistry.
