Anxious about an exam, hug a pillow that breathes. Researchers are looking for simple, intuitive ways to reduce anxiety, like pillows and mindful breathing. Researchers combined these tools to create a breathing and tactile pillow comfort the breathing pillow especially designed with what focus groups determined to be the most soothing movement. A pneumatic chamber and pump that simulates breathing, and according to a 2022 study hugging the breathing pillow is just as effective as guided meditation to reduce anxiety before a test; but it does not require any guidance; they think that it works by stimulating our nerve fibers that respond to soothing touch and ultimately that pathway reduces heart rate blood pressure and other stress responses.
