Tell me which app you're using, and I might be able to tell you who you are. When you watch a cat video on one app or seek DIY-inspiration on another, you're creating a phone fingerprint based on the order and amount of time you're on each app. So researchers designed an algorithm that could use that fingerprint to figure out who is using the phone. Algorithm could narrow down a pool of 780 phone users to just 10 with about 75% accuracy based on how they use their phones. While researchers warned against data privacy breaches. They suggested it could be used in the future by law enforcement to potentially narrow down suspects.
