Hello and welcome to another edition of Truth or Fail where every vote matters and there are only two choices on each ballot. One of them is true and the other is not and you must decide. And since things are getting pretty political these days, we’re not gonna let this opportunity pass us by. Now let’s be clear. We’ve all heard enough about Romney and Santorum and Gingrich and Paul and even Obama, so that’s the last of their names that you’re going to hear in today’s episode. Instead we’re gonna bring you facts about the candidates who never even had a chance of becoming president.

Round number one: Third party candidates

Fact number one: Ross Perot and Ralph Nader are two of the most well-known recent third party candidates. Neither won any electoral votes but Perot is often credited with helping Clinton win his first election and Nader may have helped George Bush in 2000 by taking away votes from Al Gore. But did you know that Perot is a college basketball fanatic and has given more than $150,000,000 to the athletic department of his alma mater the University of Texas. Not surprisingly, they named their basketball arena after him.

Fact number two: Mr Consumer advocate Ralph Nader has always been very concerned about the safety of American vehicles but that hasn’t always gone over so well with car companies. In the early 1960’s General Motors is said to have hired prostitutes to trap Nader in compromising positions so that they could discredit him.
