So here's the situation: the United States spends more on health care than basically anyone else on Earth, and somehow we're not healthier for it.
Like, not even a little bit more. In fact, compared to other high-income countries, we tend to have worse outcomes. I'm talking lower life expectancy, higher rates of avoidable death, more chronic disease.
Why is this happening, and what can we do about it?
