Getting space for 200,000; let alone 500,000 people to eat and sleep and get high was a tall order.
And several potential locations were secured and lost in the time running up to the concert.
Only when the organizers paid $75,000 to rent a dairy farm for a weekend did they get a home for Woodstock. And even then, town residents protested by boycotting the farmer's milk.
