You ever get sick of seeing rainy days? Well, you might end up getting sick FROM rainy days too, and not in the "you'll catch cold from the rain" way.

Savannah: Are you sick of rainy days? Well, you might be sick *from* rainy days, and it's not the way you're thinking.

The global climate crisis is increasing precipitation, so there are more rainy days and rainier days. That means that all the runoff from the rain is sending more pathogens and dissolved organic matter into bodies of water: that's decomposed plants, bacteria, and algae that makes the water cloudier and browner. And it's predicted to increase by up to 65%.

Once the water's all cloudy, UV rays from the Sun can't penetrate through the top layers. And while UV protection is normally a good thing for our skin, in this case, who ray would be killing off dangerous pathogens growing in the water. So, protecting pathogens from UV rays is not great for us.

So those pathogens are predicted to grow more in upcoming rainy seasons, which makes water filtration more important than ever.
