Emma enters

(Alex): Okay? What is it?

(Emma): I need you to call my dad.

(Alex): Your dad? Did you get suspended from school?

(Emma): I need him to do me a favor.

(Alex): You're his little girl, call him yourself.

(Emma): He can't know the favors from me, this has to come from you.

(Alex): Ha. Oh, this is gonna get good.

Emma Approved logo appears on screen

(Alex): 'Kay, I don't have all day.

(Emma): I need you to give him an earnings report for Enscombe Enterprises.

(Alex): Okay, that's not too weird.

(Emma): But, I need you to falsify the report.

(Alex): Here we go!

(Emma): Yeah, it's easy. Just say that the quarter earnings dropped like... 85%.

(Alex): Emma! If the board of Enscombe were to see an earnings drop by 85%, it would ignite a sale at steep loses. The board would have to assemble immediately and they would literally have to stop their lives.

(Emma): Well, I don't need all the board members to stop their lives... Just one.

(Alex): Uh-uh. Board member Frank Churchill. You are crazy!

(Emma): Driven! Alex! Driven! Annie is coming in this afternoon so if we hurry we can ge-

(Alex): You want me to make you dad tell a bunch of multimillionaires that they are going to lose a ton of money so you can get the attention of Frank Churchill?

(Emma): Brilliant, right?

(Alex): No!

(Emma): Look, I called Frank! I reached out and I heard nothing. Now I need something to drag him away from his Norwegian trout and pay attention to what really matters.

(Alex): Or you can just wait.

(Emma): Stop wasting time, pick up the phone and let's do this. A wedding needs saving!

(Alex): Emma, I'm not doing it!

(Emma): Why not?!

(Alex): Because it's insane and it won't work!

(Emma): You don't know that it won't work! Support me like the business partner you are and make the call!

(Alex):No! No calls, no nothing. It's not happening. 'Kay, I'm going to make this perfectly clear for you Emma. I will support you 99% of the time but you just hit that 1%! Now cancel the wedding or find another way!

Emma leaves

Scene change

(Emma): Okay, that didn't quite work out, but that
's okay. Um... I... mm... She'll regret this if she doesn't marry him. She will regret it for the rest of her life... I'm sorry, I need to think about something else for a minute.

Emma calls Harriet over intercom

(Emma); Harriet, could you come in here for a second?

(Harriet): I'll be right there.

Harriet enters

(Harriet): Hi Emma, what do you need?

(Emma): Can we run through the guest list again?

(Harriet): Sure, how so?

(Emma): You know what, forget that. Let's confirm the gifts.

(Harriet): Oh, okay.. Um... Should we be doing that if we have to cancel everything?

(Emma): Harriet, I really need some happy thoughts right now and gifts make me happy so please tell me about the gifts!

(Harriet):Um, well we've received about 78 so far and can expect about another 20 or so.

(Emma): You have the list there?

(Harriet): You did everything you possibly could.

(Emma): Maybe...

(Harriet): Well, she did ask you to cancel the wedding... Maybe that's what she wants.

(Emma): If I thought cancelling the wedding would make Annie's life better, I would.

(Harriet): But it won't?

(Emma): No, and I will not under any circumstance let her give up on herself. I love Annie and failure is not an option... Now go back up front, she'll be here soon.

(Harriet): Thank you.

(Emma): For what?

(Harriet): For showing me that it's important to be a friend first and a match-maker second.

Harriet leaves

3 hours later...

Harriet calls Emma over the intercom

(Harriet): Emma, Annie's looking for parking. She should be in any minute.

(Emma): Great, send her in right away.

Annie knocks on door and enters

(Annie): Hi Emma.

(Emma): Hey Annie! How are you feeling?

(Annie): Good... Um, so. I was wondering a few things.

(Emma): Yeah?

(Annie): I'm afraid I may have over-reacted.

(Emma): Over-reacted?

(Annie): You may not realize this but I wasn't feeling particularly welcomed by the Westons, and I was really scared about marrying into a family that seemed like they didn't want me.

(Emma): That's a... pretty serious concern.

(Annie): So I was wondering, well hoping really that maybe just maybe you hadn't cancelled all of those reservations.

Emma shows Annie receipts

(Annie): Of coarse

(Emma): I knew you would change your mind!

(Annie): Well, I wasn't going to. I really do love Ryan, I... this will sound silly. I felt like his brother really didn't like me.

(Emma): You mean Frank? Frank Churchill?

(Annie): He thought I was marrying Ryan for the money or so I thought he thought when he declined the invitation.

(Emma): Annie, I wish you would have told me. Then you wouldn't have had to go through all this alone.

(Annie): I know but it was my problem. It was just me, I.. I didn't want to bother you.

(Emma): I appreciate that. Oh, so you talked to Frank?

(Annie): No, I... I got a letter from him welcoming me to the family.

(Emma): Oh, so is he coming to the wedding? I'll have to change the seating arrangements

(Annie): N' no. But he sent his apologies for not being able to be there and he sent a really amazing gift.

(Emma): Oh really? What was it?

(Annie): A hand-made pasta chitarra from Italy.

(Emma): A pasta what?

(Annie): They're amazing. They roll out specialty pastas like tonnarelli or... it doesn't matter. It's just that I was wrong, and well... kinda embarrassed.

(Emma): Don't worry about it Annie, we'll keep this our little secret. Right? and the Westons don't need to know.

(Annie): Thanks Emma. You're the best. I'm sorry I've been so much trouble.

(Emma): Oh, it was nothing. Come here.

Emma hugs Annie

(Emma): Oh, I got you something.

(Annie): No, what? You shouldn't have.

(Emma): I figured you could use a spa day.

(Annie): Oh, this is nice but what about-

(Emma): I got one too.

(Annie): Thanks Emma. Well, I guess I will see you this weekend.

(Emma): Can't wait.

Annie leaves

(Emma): Yes!
