The trophy that's given to the winner of the ashes is just a regular trophy thing. The name actually came after England suffered a great defeat in Australia in 1882. A fate obituary was posted in the sporting times which said: " An affectionate remembrance of English cricket, which died at the oval on 29th August, 1882. Deeply lamented by a large circle of sorrowing friends and acquaintances.R.I.P. N.B- The body will be cremated and the ashes taken to Australia". Later in 1882 the English team was sent to Australia to recover those ashes, which they did.

The first ever flushing public toilets opened in London in 1852.

Over two million items are lost annually on the London underground.
