Although you can be forgiven for thinking as much because there were so many American authors who won the Nobel Prize for Literature who were alcoholics: Ernest Hemingway, William Faulkner, Eugene O'Neill. But Tony Morrison isn't the only person to avoided alcoholism also Pearl S. Buck and Saul Bellow.
