My name is Hari Kondabolu and I'll be reading a poem by my brother Ashok Kondabolu called "Ticker".  I love this poem.  It's deconstructive, um, it's silly, it's honest.  It's very much my brother's style.

Ticker

The heart must
tire of being a
metaphor for
our dreams and
desires

on top of all the
other work it does.

Let it pass the
baton to the
gallbladder or
spleen

so it can pump
and beat in
peace

and keep us going
without the added
pressure of all
our bullshit.
