So, the dandelions you mowed last year are growing back stronger than before.

This is not your imagination. When you mow dandelions really short, it can reduce their population.

But it is only a temporary fix. The next year they're back and better. This could be because now they have more access to light, without all the tall leaves blocking it out.

Or it could be because younger, weaker parts of the plant stick up taller, so what's left after mowing is the more established parts of the plant. On top of that, when they grow back, they are lower to the ground so more of the plant protected from that damage. So if you want a long term solution to dandelion growth, mowing alone is not going to cut it.

I suggest just learning to love them.
