Both hustle culture generally, but also the personal finance media bubble have been a bit of a breeding ground over the past ten years for advice that isn't just bad on a technical level but also profoundly damaging to us on a personal level. and there rage from day to day productivity habits to long term investment advice and the entire attitude of sleeping when you’re dead basically serves to shift the framing of your life from the actual life that you’re living that work is paying for as being the most important. to the work itself, as being what you should prioritize. because living this way fucking sucks and people don’t want to do it. and for sleep specifically it’s actually a very integral part of your health.
Healthy sleep helps the body remain healthy and stave off diseases. Without enough sleep the brain can’t function properly, and this can impair your abilities to concentrate, think clearly, and process memories. also, if im not mistaken then Marissa Meyer was putting all those hours, that when she like... didn’t they famously buy Tumblr and lose seventeen billion off of that like, sounds like maybe she could have used a little more shut eye and slept on that decision.
