Lindsey: A few years ago, I made an episode about testicle trivia for a pub trivia game, and recently I got permission to publish that for you! So, from a blond, curly-haired Lindsey of the past to you now, here you go - testicle questions!

[intro]

First question. "There have been approximately 200 cases of people born with more than two testicles, usually three. What is the highest number on record?"

[5 second countdown]

Five testicles is the highest number on record on one person.

Next question - "Greek sculptors prided themselves on attention to anatomical detail but consistently and inaccurately portrayed which testicle to be larger than the other? The right or left of the model?"

[5 second countdown]

Two - left. Most testicles hang at two different heights; the left is usually lower, so Greek sculptors deduced that this meant that the left was heavier because it was larger, but this isn't accurate. The left is lower, but the right is larger.

Question three - "In human beings, testicles start off inside the abdomen, a body cavity called the inguinal canal. Once the testicles descend, the cavity remains open - what is the name of the sex act which entails the penetration of this canal?"

[5 second countdown]

Three - "muffing" is sexual penetration of the inguinal canal.

Question four - "The common name for a flower I see at the grocery store and in people's homes means testicle. So, we're saying, 'Wow, that's such a pretty testicle in your windowsill. Where did you get that testicle?' What flower am I referring to?"

[5 second countdown]

The answer to question four is "orchid." Their named "testicle" because their roots or pseudo bulbs look like testicles.

Question five - "Which well-known philosopher believed that tying off the left testicle would increase the likelihood of having male offspring?

[5 second countdown]

Answer number five - Aristotle.

Question six - "What percent of semen's volume is the sperm from the testicles: A. 90-100%; B. 70-80%; C. 20-35%; D. 1-5%?"

[5 second countdown]

Six - D. 0 to 5% of semen is actually sperm. Most semen is 2-5% sperm, but if a person has had a vasectomy or doesn't produce sperm, they can still ejaculate semen, it just won't have sperm in it.

Question seven - "When a person is sexually aroused without release for a prolonged period of time, we might say that have blue balls or blue vulva. What is the clinical term for vasocongestion of the testicles from sexual frustration?"

[5 second countdown]

Seven - "epididymal hypertension" is the clinical name for blue balls.

Question eight - "What is the singular form of 'testes'? Spelling counts."

[5 second countdown]

Eight - "t-e-s-t-i-s." Testis.

Question nine - "Which actor's comment about having cosmetic surgery done to remove wrinkles on his scrotum inspired a notable increase in so-called 'tackle tightening' or 'ball ironing?'"

[5 second countdown]

George Clooney is the answer to number nine. It's uncertain if he was joking about ironing his balls, but the practice did gain popularity.

Question ten - in the 1960s, sexologists William Masters and Virginia Johnson observed around 10,000 episodes of sexual arousal - they watched people get turned on and have sex or masturbate. What did they observe about the testicles just before ejaculation?"

[5 second countdown]

Finally, Masters and Johnson observed that the testicles raise, lift up, go higher, get closer to the body just before ejaculation. Any of those answers or synonyms for them will work to describe what they deemed defining of extreme physiological importance. They determined that if the balls don't elevate, the person doesn't fully ejaculate.

Stay curious.
