Emma: Well, my loves, we are heading into the Thanksgiving weekend, which is a good time for me to take stock of everything I am thankful for. I have just landed the highest profile client I have ever had, a State Senator! And not just any Senator, a cute, young, single Senator! Can I get an amen?
(Emma Approved intro plays)
Emma: I'm also grateful that things with Harriet worked out the way they did. I'm not gonna deny Martin's video was incredibly sweet, but really, it was kinda corny. Of course it's heart wrenching to have to reject someone, but this is for the best. She'll see that soon enough. Harriet just needs to get on with life, she needs to meet new people and go on adventures. She'll get over Martin in no time. Wallowing in ice cream and regret is not and never will be Emma Approved.
Harriet: Sorry to interrupt, Emma.
Emma: No, of course not, come, sit, stay awhile. What happened to you? You look so tired.
Harriet: I know. I didn't sleep at all last night.
Emma: Ohh, you poor thing.
Harriet: Am I always going to feel this terrible?
Emma: No, not for long. And you shouldn't feel bad at all, you did the right thing, this was best for you and for Martin.
Harriet: I just keep seeing his face. It was like I took a screwdriver to his motherboard. I guess it's a good thing he taught me how to fix my computer on my own.
Emma: Harriet, I'm going to give you the weekend to feel bad, and on Monday, it's a new start, we don't worry about Martin! We're gonna focus on all the exciting possibilities ahead. Onwards and upwards, okay?
Harriet: Okay.
Emma: I said okay?
Harriet: Hell, yes.
Emma: Better. Go home early today, get some rest.
Harriet: Thanks, Emma.
Emma: Harriet is taking this harder than I thought. But she'll be okay, especially once we get a certain Senator in here. I can see the campaign posters now: the Senator next to Harriet, his adorable activist wife, two kids, and a dog. Golden retriever? No, King Charles Spaniel! Ooh, I like that coloring!
Martin: Uh, Ms. Woodhouse?
Emma: B-Mart. What a surprise!
Martin: Sorry to bother you, I just wanted to check that everything was working before I left.
Emma: Everything's great, thank you.
Martin: Yeah, everything looks good. Um, I finished setting up your high speed fiber, so I guess that means my job here is done.
Emma: Gone so soon, well, it was nice having you around.
Martin: Thank you, I really liked getting to meet everyone here.
Emma: Take care.
Martin: Thanks. Oh, um, I almost forgot, uh, here's a wrist cushion for you, figured I'd save you the trip.
Emma: That was very thoughtful, Martin, thank you.
Martin: I hope you know how much Harriet respects you, Ms. Woodhouse. She really loves working for you. Take good care of her for me.
Alex: Hey, Harriet said you wanted to see me?
Emma: Oh, yes, I wanted to know your availability for next month.
Alex: Why is that?
Emma: So I know when to set you up on your big fabulous date.
Alex: You couldn't have waited one more day to call?
Emma: Well, you know what they say. Destiny waits for no one.
Alex: Ha, who says that?
Emma: Me.
Alex: Oh. Speaking of destiny, I know something you don't know.
Emma: Ooh, yay, I love secrets, tell me, tell me, tell me.
Alex: Are you trustworthy?
Emma: Like you have to ask.
Alex: Yeah, you're right, but I'll tell you anyway. There is an intra-office romance going on.
Emma: Between who?
Alex: I'm gonna let you guess, but it involves a certain assistant and a certain IT guy.
Emma: Where do you get your news from, the pony express? That happened days ago! She already turned him down.
Alex: Really? I thought that was a no-brainer, they seemed really good together.
Emma: At first glance, maybe, but they are very different people, and Harriet is so out of his league.
Alex: Out of his league? What are you talking about? They're two young people with a lot in common and nowhere to go but up!
Emma: Mm, Harriet is going up, but Martin has decidedly plateaued.
Alex: You were behind this, weren't you? You told Harriet to reject him.
Emma: I did no such thing. I only helped her organize her thoughts on the subject.
Alex: Oh, God, this is all part of your scheme to improve Harriet. Emma, I told you to leave her alone.
Emma: And I ignored such obviously bad advice. Harriet is doing so much better now! She's dressing better, she's more confident--
Alex: She's turning down perfectly respectable and nice guys because she thinks that she's better than them. Emma, she liked him, you'd have to be blind not see that.
Emma: I'm sorry, I didn't realize you were the relationship expert in this partnership. Whether she liked him or not, Harriet knows she's going places in this world, and B-Mart did not fit into that plan, period.
Alex: You go too far.
Emma: I just want what's best for Harriet, and I told her she should never settle.
Alex: She shouldn't settle?
Emma: She should never settle, and neither will I.
Alex: If you never ever settle, won't that make you forever alone?
Emma: Where are you going?
Alex: Home. Away. I don't know, I'm having trouble even looking at you right now.
Emma: Happy Thanksgiving. I never said what I did was easy. I did what I needed to do to make Harriet's life better, and I know I achieved it. Mr. Knightley will eventually see I was right, and when he does, I will accept his apology, but until then, I hope your turkey or vegan substitute, is Emma Approved.
